Bible Verse

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

"Two are better than one. . . if either of them fall down, one can help the other up."

Connection

Friendships are so incredibly special. They bring so much joy to oneself. There are so many different types of friendships. I can remember when I started Kindergarten, I had a best friend, and our friendship lasted all through my middle school years. We did everything together. We were at each other's houses all of the time, and lived so many great memories together. As you get older, you meet new people and form new friendships. As an adult, you meet even more people, depending on the different experiences and opportunities you have in your life. I'm also learning a lot about friendships through my daughter. She is now 18 years old, but through the years, she has experienced so many loyal friends, and unfortunately, some that weren't nice to her. It's especially hard, watching your child get hurt through these friendships. She is about to start college, and I have explained to her that she is going to meet so many new people, and they may turn into her life-long friends. It's hard for her to understand this, because she's not living it right now. I feel that college is a huge step in maturity, and I there was a noticeable and positive change in people I met during these years.

Friendships are also about making the effort of making your friends feel important. I know I have friends that months or years can go by, and we can pick up right where we left off when we connect again. I have other friends that we both make the effort to see each other once a month to connect. In my other friendships, we make an effort multiple times a week to connect (thank goodness for texting!). I have learned that true friends are friends that are loyal, listen, and are there when you need them most (good or bad). I can honestly say that I have so many friends that describes what a true friend is. God placed so many wonderful people in my life that have helped me grow into the person I am today.

Devotion

Have you reached out to your friends lately? If you haven't . . . maybe make today, be the day. Reach out to a true friend that you haven't connected with for a while. Not only will this step make you happy, but it will make your friend happy too.
